Biography

Dr. John Herdman has consulted internationally and nationally with corporations,agencies and individual johnherdman
executives and professionals. He combines his behavioral training as a psychologist and his life experiences in leadership and consulting to provide executives, managers and professionals with human resource expertise to achieve business goals. He brings a diverse background to this partnering relationship. His expertise includes:

Dr. Herdman’s professional background includes the development and leadership of two outpatient drug/alcohol facilities, just part of a private practice called The Encouragement Place which provided psychology, training and education services to individuals, groups, businesses and agencies. He founded a non-profit 501(c)(3) agency and served as President and CEO. He has presented workshops internationally and has consulted nationally in areas of program evaluation, executive development and human resources training.

He retired from the Air Force Reserve where he was assigned to Headquarters Air Force at the Pentagon as the Deputy Director of Human Resources Development. In his 28 years of active and reserve military service he directed an outpatient drug/alcohol program; served as an admission liaison officer for AFROTC and the air Force Academy, and was the Air Force’s consultant for counselor certification and civilian drug testing programs. Prior to his retirement he was involved in consultation to the Family Support and Equal Opportunity Programs sharing his business and professionals experience to the air force personnel community.

Dr. Herdman has all three of his college degrees from Penn State. In 1998 he founded John W. Herdman, Ph.D., PC as a corporation to provide his consulting services. He has been on the faculty of the University of Tampa and has taught brief therapy techniques in the Doane College graduate program in counseling. He is active in his community and professional associations. For the 2000-2001 year he was the President of Lincoln South Rotary Club.
